Where are you right now (LVR, DR, Bathroom) and what are you wearing? What an odd question..heehee. Ok but seriously I'm in my Living Room, and I'm wearing a t-shirt and shorts. Is there anyplace unusual you’ve found a story? No, no place unusual. I'm sure if I write long enough I'll come across one! Did anyone inspire you to write or was this something you always wanted to do? My children were my inspiration in writing my children's books. I've recently started writing a book for adults. It's inspiration actually has come from a mix of different people around me, and myself and what we have gone through. What is something that very few people know about you? Something very few people know about huh?? I've only just started enjoying reading books. I never liked reading up til about a year ago. What is your favorite material item that you own? The quilts my family have made for me. There are three. One my granny made when I was little. Two- the one my sister-in-law made for a wedding present and three- the one my mom made for us a couple years ago. To know someone takes the time to actaully make something for you, means alot to me. What do you do to unwind and relax? Turn up the music and dance! While you were writing, did you ever feel as if you were one of the characters? In the book I'm working on now, I do fins myself relating to two of the characters. Both for completely different reasons. What are your expectations for your book? I hope Jake & Jesus gets into as many children's hands as possible. I hope it helps them to learn that Jesus loves them and wants to be their friends. If you could leave your readers with one bit of wisdom, what would you want it to be? Never stop praying for God's direction. If he wants you to do it, and you never give up...then it will be done. When we listen to God, great things can happen! If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book? Well my latest book/s aren't published yet, so if I want something changed I can still do it :) But as far as Jake & Jesus...no I wouldn't. Do you remember how your interest in writing originated? I wrote a book for my son when he was a couple years old, just as something special between us. Which was about fourteen years ago. That was really the first and only time I had written anything until about a year ago. Now it seems like I have so much in there I'm not sure if I'll ever get it all out! Would you like to share a little about your current work in progress? Perhaps the first chapter of your book? I can't really share the first chapter being as I'm still just starting on it. I can let you know its a love story mixed with a little bit of suspense. As of right now anyway.. :) Where can people find you? Runs June 29th & 30th~ stop by and listen if you have a chance to! Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author Welcome Kelly! I'm honored to have you. Tell us a little about yourself.
Kelly Hagen Hi Mukkove! Thanks for having me! Just wanted to say I'm glad to be here, and thank the Lord and Mukkove for the chance to meet new people and get to share a bit about Jake & Jesus. May the Lord bless our time together. Let’s see a little about myself...I've been married for almost 11 years, and have 3 beautiful children who are my world. I love listening to different kinds of music, and thunder storms. Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author Oh, I love to listen to thunderstorms, too. They are rare in Alaska. Kelly Hagen We've had a lot here this spring. May sound weird but as long as they don't get to windy, they are very calming :) Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author I understand. There's something about the power of the thunder... Kelly Hagen for sure...so powerful yet so peaceful. Just like our Lord. Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author Tell us about Jake & Jesus Kelly Hagen Jake & Jesus is a children’s book about a little boy and his friendship with Jesus. He learns that we can talk with Jesus just like we do everyone else, and about gifts he can give to Jesus & the most important gift that Jesus gave for everyone. Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author How did you come up with the idea for Jake & Jesus? Kelly Hagen To be perfectly honest, it just came to me one day. Writing was never something I had considered in a million years, but God had other plans. Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author Do you think you will write more books, then? Kelly Hagen I do have some more in the works. I'll have to wait and see how the Lord leads me with those. I would like to get them published though. Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author More stories with Jake? Kelly Hagen No, they about children with disabilities. Guest KB Kelly - What was it that prompted you to write Jake & Jesus? Kelly Hagen I've always had a calling to pray for children. I guess the Lord wanted to take it a step farther and hopefully through Jake & Jesus reach children in a different way. Guest KBI haven't had a chance to read it yet, I usually like to read the kids books with my 5 y/o and 3 y/o. Was one of your kids the inspiration for the character Jake? Kelly Hagen Yes, my son was. :) Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author Tell us about your passion to pray for children. You have something set up on your site, I believe. Kelly Hagen Yes, I do, it's called Prayers for Children. I guess it all started really not long after my son was born. My eyes were open to how important it really is to teach our children about Jesus. To think that there are some children out there that may not have even heard of Him yet, hurts my heart. Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author Here's the link to Kelly's prayer ministry http://kellyhagen.yolasite.com/prayers-for-children.php Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author What does your family think of you being a published author? Kelly Hagen They are very supportive. Lots of prayers going up for Jake & Jesus. They are excited to see where God goes with it, just as I am. Guest KB Do you have any other books thought out or planned? Kelly Hagen I have two in the making right now about children with disabilities. I'm hoping to get those published as well, but I'm waiting on the Lord's direction. :) Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author Where can we buy Jake & Jesus? Kelly Hagen Jake & Jesus is on Amazon, Borders, Barnes & Noble, CBD, & of course my website. www.kellyhagen.yolasite.com Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author For the month of June (2011), what extra incentive is there for buying a copy? Kelly Hagen When you purchase a copy from me, your name will be entered to win a Kindle! That drawing is for the first of July, so not too far away:) Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author How have people responded to Jake & Jesus? Any fun stories to share? Kelly Hagen It's had a pretty good response so far. Most people comment on how easy it is to understand for children, yet still teaches a "lesson"; which was my goal. I want children to be able to understand and know Jesus is a great friend to have. Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author I want that for my children as well. Your book does a great job of being simple and conveying truth. Kelly Hagen Thank you Mukkove, it's nice to hear and see that the story God placed in me is reaching others. Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author Do you read your book to your children? Do you feel it has helped their relationship with Jesus? Kelly Hagen Yes, I do read Jake & Jesus to my children. Sometimes my daughter reads it for us. I do believe it's helped them in knowing more about Jesus. They always ask a question or two at the end of the story, which opens the door to be able to talk more about Jesus. And that’s never a bad thing. :) Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author That's what I believe a good book does, promotes discussion. Good job! Kelly Hagen Thank you! Mukkove Johnson - Christian Author Kelly, Thank you so much for hanging out with me on Facebook today. It was fun to learn more about you and your book.
