My name is Michael D. Fortner. I'm the author of_Discoveries in Bible Prophecy.
I have been studying Bible prophecy for 30 years, and have a god-given ability to figure things out, and to think outside the box.
Which writer inspires you?
I write nonfiction, so I don't have any favorite authors.
Have you written other books? If so, what are the titles?
Yes, I wrote The Truth About United Flight 93: A Reasonable Analysis of the Evidence, and The Prosperity Gospel Exposed. I also edited the first translation of the Sibylline Oracles in English into modern English; The Sibylline Oracles: Revised and Updated.
How much research, if any, do you do when writing a book?
This book took many years of research, and several years to write if you count only a few of the previous drafts.
Why do you write?
I am called of God to write my research, and it is the only way to adaqately transmit my insights, because of the detail involved. My books are almost a Bible commentary.
Where do you get your ideas from?
I can get inspiration from anywhere. Even reading or watch historical information.
Do you use an outline, plot, or just see where the story takes you?
I take lots of notes, notebooks full of notes. Then when I begin writing I go through the notes and insert the information into the book at the appropriate places.
Do you ever get writers block? If so how do you overcome it?
Since I write nonfiction, I don't have writer's block, but I just have to rewrite seveal times to make sure that I have explained something clearly enough.
Do you prefer to read ebooks, paperback, or hardback?
I very much prefer a printed book because I like to underline important sentences and paragraphss. It is also easier to flip through the book to find underlined words, but searching for something is certainly much easier with an ebook.
What are you currently working on?
I already have several chapters virtually ready to add into my next book, which is volume 2 in the Bible Prophecy Revealed series. I did not want to publish a 500 page book, so I putting the information into two books.
How important are book covers in the buying process?
Very important. I was fortunate to find a great image which I purchased cheap and all I needed to do was saturate the color more.
How do you market your book?
I have a website with sample chapters and videos which are posted on youtube and other sites. I also use Twitter and Facebook, and I have banner ads coming out on a Christian website. I also have a new book announcement coming out in Christian Retailing Magazine.
Do you use social media? If so, what is you favorite site?
I would say that Facebook is my favorite, simply because I learn a lot from other people's posts. I probably have over 100 images that I saved from Facebook which I might put online so time under the heading, My Favorite Facebook Images.
What's your favorite quote?
"People are more apt to believe myths than facts." As far as I know, it is my own quote. Though it is possible that I pulled it out of my memory.
