I love chocolate, going on adventures, and spending time with my family. I have four grown kids, and I’m always trying to make coffee dates with them. As a playwright and director, my passion is Youth Theater. I’ve directed 24 productions and written 19. It’s a joy to watch young actors grow in confidence and platform skills and their love of theater—and I have so much fun seeing my words come to life onstage.
Which writer inspires you? I tip my hat to Francine Rivers and Karen Kingsbury. They write deep, spiritual, and real. I admire that. Do you ever get writers block? If so how do you overcome it? I don’t believe in writer’s block. (Said with a grin.) Thinking about writer’s block stimulates writer’s block. The more you think about it, the worse it gets. You can write. It just might not be great writing. Go ahead and write, because writing stimulates better writing. So, instead of calling it writer’s block, I’d say it’s more like uninspired writing. But I can always fix that later. Do you prefer to read ebooks, paperback, or hardback? I never thought I’d like a Kindle. BUT…my son gave me a Kindle for Christmas, and I love it! It’s so easy to hold when I’m reading in bed. It fits in my purse. In fact, I like to tell people I’m carrying a library in my purse. Hurray for ebooks! What are you currently working on? I’m working on a middle grades, theater-adventure called STAGE WARS. It’s the first in a series about kids who love live theater. Shem Michaels wants one thing. To be the lead in Green Bluff Academy's fall production Island of Shalamar. Only one person stands in his way. TJ Fortine. His nemesis. When Shem and TJ face off in a theatrical sword fight, they accidentally drop through the trap door, straight into Professor Plunkmeyer's Time Machine. Adventure and tempers skyrocket as the two charge into the past. Right into medieval lands. Can they survive? Possibly become friends? Do you use social media? If so, what is you favorite site? Yes, I get a kick out of social media. Living in the country—without tv—I look forward to my daily online visiting with other writers, readers, and friends on twitter and facebook. I prefer twitter. It’s easy to follow links and hop around from place to place. And it’s cool to promote other authors on that media platform. Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thes. 5:16-18 Do you pray over your books? Yes, I pray for my writing. But since I’ve had a paperback copy of Winter's Past, I hold it and pray, believing God will touch people’s lives when they read about Ty's and Winter's lives. I had my church pray for it before its launch too. Do you write a blog? If so where can we find it at?
