I grew up in Montana, which explains why I'm drawn to that state as a setting for some of my books. I got involved with the Missoula Children's Theatre as a child, which was a huge blessing. It showed me that I was capable of succeeding at something I enjoyed doing at a time in my life when being good at sports (which I wasn't) seemed to be the gauge by which a person's value was judged. So what if I was better at avoiding being hit by softballs than catching or throwing them? I could memorize lines with the best of them, and that still means more to me.
I got my degree in acting from Willamette University, but quickly realized that career path wasn't for me. I prefer eating on a regular basis and paying the bills on time, so I pursued my other theatrical love--costuming. I've worked in that field for years, and began writing seriously about eight years ago.
I've also homeschooled my two daughters, which is a whole other story...
What are you currently working on? I'm currently working on a romantic suspense novel entitled "Tide Will Tell". I'm excited about it, because it's a part of a series that I'm writing with a couple of friends, Lynnette Bonner and Janalyn Voigt. The first book in the series was penned by Lynnette and is already out. It's called "The Unrelenting Tide". Mine will be out in November, and Janalyn's, "Deceptive Tide" will come out next spring. The books are set in the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest. We hope to continue the series, setting future books in other island settings. Who doesn't love escaping to an exotic island? How important are book covers in the buying process? Unbelievably, extremely, critically important. Can you tell I have strong feelings about this? One of my pet peeves with the current wave of indie books is the abundance of unprofessional covers out there. It's great for people to do their own cover if they have the proper tools and the skill, but so many people don't. That to me is an indication that they aren't taking care to produce quality writing either, and it will keep me from taking a look at their book. Do you pray over your books? Constantly. I pray for every part of the process, and for the readers. What do you like to do for fun? Write! Oh, you mean besides that? I love spending time with my daughters, window shopping, watching movies, eating frozen yogurt. I'd love to travel if I had the money. That's something I hope to get back to one day...both traveling and having money. Do you write a blog? If so where can we find it? Why yes. Thank you for asking.
