Hi. My name is Jodi Desautels. I am author of the children’s book, “Clarinda Cloud” starring the lovable and sharing feeling character with the same name. How are you today?
I enjoy caring, teaching, learning, writing, reading, illustrating, creating, helping, and loving. I enjoy other things too! LOL! I live in the country with my husband and my mother-in-law. I enjoy seeing the beauty in things… or creating my own beauty.
Have you written other books? If so, what are the titles?
Yes, I have two other books. One is an activity book that is based on “Clarinda Cloud,” but can be used without it. It is titled “Clarinda Cloud Activity Book.” Just like “Clarinda Cloud,” it focuses on identifying and sharing feelings as well as colors. It also practices other basic skills. And, I have another book titled, “Johnny’s Adventure Makes Reading Fun.”
Where do you get your ideas from?
I often get ideas from children or my desire to help and/or teach people… not to mention my own life, skills, and feelings.
What are you currently working on?
That is a difficult question to answer. I always seem to have many pots in the fire at once. It seems like I am always creating new things for my educational site, DUO Education. Also, I have been practicing my illustrating skills, creating posters, and working on illustrating a few of my unpublished stories. I have more children’s stories that I am working on as well.
How do you market your book?
I market my books through social media sites such as Twitter, Google+, Facebook, Pinterest, About.me, etc. I try to be interviewed and have author visits when I can. I don’t have the opportunity to get out much though, because I am also a caregiver. I also blog about my books, have occasional giveaways, and have them on my websites:
What is your favorite Bible verse?
I have many favorite Bible verses and they all touch me different at different times. The one that seems to be touching my heart lately is: “A heart at peace gives life to the body.” ~ Proverbs 14:30
What is your favorite book of the Bible?
That is a good question. With God’s word it is difficult to choose just one book. I would have to say that in the New Testament, Matthew is my favorite book. I like the way Matthew depicts the life and teachings of Jesus. In the Old Testament, I like the book of Proverbs. I think it is full of great quotable advice.
What do you do for fun?
Oh, I do many things for fun! I like to have fun! And, “for fun” is a great reason to do something. When I am not writing, reading, illustrating, teaching, learning, creating… not to mention promoting, marketing, etc…. you might find me playing cards or backgammon with my husband, riding my tractor to work in the yard, taking photos, riding motorcycles with my husband, and enjoying God’s wonderful creations!
Do you write a blog? If so, where can we find it at?
Yes, I have two blogs on which I post every Wednesday. My author blog is called “What is New with Jodi Desautels?” On this blog, I am apt to post about: my books, my author visits and interviews, interesting writing or illustrating tidbits, things I might be working on, guest interviews, etc. My educational blog is called the “DUO Education Learning Blog.” On my educational blog, I am apt to post about educational news, activities, teaching aids, educational strategies, learning styles, lessons, educational anecdotes, educational products, etc. On both, I welcome guest bloggers, ideas, comments, questions, etc.
Where can readers find your books?
People can find my books on Amazon.com, B&N.com, and other online retailers. Also… I usually have a decent supply of books on hand! ;-)
You can also learn more about my books on my websites:
