1. Something that joins or connects two or more things
2. The act of connecting two or more things or the state of being connected
3. A situation in which two or more things have the same cause, origin, goal
I'm guessing most would have answered closest to number one...maybe number two. But let's look more at number three. It says, " a situation in which two or more things have the same cause, or goal.
The SAME cause or goal.
That got me to thinking, because I, like most, would have defined connection with the meaning of number one. I don't know, maybe if I thought about it long enough I would have made my way to define as number three states, but off the top of my head, I would have went with the same definition as number one.
Ok, let me get back on track here...
Having the same cause or goal as another. This really makes me want to take a few steps back and look at all my "connections". The Bible tells us to do everything, as if we are doing it for the Lord, and bring honor to Him, right?
Colossians 3:23
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,
1 Corinthians 10:31
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Hmmm...
Are all my "connections" bringing glory to the Lord? Do they all have the same goal as I do? Do they all want to bring glory, honor, and praise to Jesus?
Having connections is a good thing, don't get me wrong. But we must make sure we are connected with others that have the SAME goal as ourselves. We must pray and be watchful that the enemy doesn't distort or lead us to something that God doesn't want us to be connected to.
So, will you join me this week in taking a step back and looking at, praying over your connections?
